The new GAIM Pidgin has got a logo. Have to say, its gonna look much better than its previous version. Like a Linux version of Adium (or is it the other way round?).

Looks like we have a chance of survival if our old planet dies on us.
This new “Gliese 581-c” (Catchy, ain’t it?) is about 1.5x as big as earth and takes 13 days to rotate around the sun. Basically, the 12 months we have one our planet will be turned into 13 days on the second earth. For example, day 1 will be January, 2 will be February, 3 will be March, etc. But we only have 12 months? What will the 13th day be called? How about the return of Sextilis? Its from the original Roman calendar and has the word Sex is in the name.
Could this be the best chance for live on other planets? Sure. But due to its distance from earth, it will take 20.5 light years to get there. This also means that any radio transmission from our planet will be received 20 years later. Right now, inhabitants of that planet could be learning about Margaret Thatcher, Watching the first Simpsons episode and the start of the Unix wars. Just what every ET needs.
I loved the first 28 days film and the sequal looks like its gonna be even better. Gonna get this one on Blu Ray for sure! Take a look at the trailer.
