Hacky Birthday

Woo and Yay, its that special day today! Just like last year, not a lot happened. I spent the day cleaning, carbooting and gyming. Just like any other Sunday.

My present this year was a contrabution to an iPod Touch. So, I went downto HMV and brought myself a lovely 16gigger. So far, so good. Everything works as planned (including the jailbreak). I love the touch screen, no complaints so far. :D

To add a few (unplanned) special treats to my 17th year, I found a few things out and about. I got a Blur CD for a £1. Nice! Also had a water-buffalow burger at the farmers market. Met Ben down the gym, and for the first time, a girl my age! No more saggys for me!

Goodnight dear land of the web…

Simpleton

I brought myself a Wacom Bamboo Tabet (great little bit of kit) off ebay last week. Came in the post fine, no problems. Getting it working though is anouther matter.

Linux

James iPod

So far, James seem to love his new iPod Touch. His next step? Apollo IM.

In-Ear Headphones, My Arse

Apple, creator of all things white, have screwed me over. Every iPod I’ve had needs a good pair of headphones. I’m not an audiophile (All audiophiles are paedophiles, fact), but I do like a good pair of headphones. The headphones that came with each iPod where fine, just what I needed. But once my third pair broke in 2.5 years, I need to get a new pair.

At my local Apple store, A pair of headphones is £25, or in-ear headphones are £20. Surely you can’t get something better for less? That’s true. First up, there crap in the ears. It feels like having a dry wet willy. The sound is not as good the included phones. Then, 6 weeks after I brought them, the right headphone split in two, and the wires inside snaped. Great, can’t hear half of the song. To sum it up, the Apple In-Ear Headphones suck.

I went to HMV, got myself a pair of Apple headphones for £20. Much better sound, much better quality. Feels good and sounds better. Screw you Apple, thats the last time I buy anything from you! But that iPod Touch is rather tempting…

Dollars to Pounds

Yeah, great. iPhone. Woo. No really, I can’t wait.

Apple. When you release something in the USA, don’t forget the genetics your yanky doodles are based on. The Brits and Irish. Please, stop being greedy. Your “great” price of £269 is $538. That’s nearly $150 more than the current US price ($399).

$399 is £199 (give or take). For that price, I can get a iPod Touch 8gig. Now that’s a choice. iPod + Contract, or iPod. Do I really have to pay the extra £70 for 1/2 the capicity, a email client and a crappy 2 megapixle camera? Not to forget that there is a minimum of a £35 per-month contract for a minimum of 18 months.

UK grand total: £269 + (£35 x 18 = £630) = £899 / $1798.

My video iPod and K750i do their jobs fine. Why do I need to change?
